Hiring: Project Coordinator

Position: PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Type: PART-TIME ANNUAL (20 hrs/week)

COMPENSATION: $20/hr

START DATE: June 13, 2022


Prison Performing Arts (PPA) is a multi-discipline, literacy and performing arts program dedicated to enriching the lives of youth and adults in Missouri’s criminal and juvenile justice systems. For over two decades, PPA has helped prisoners, returning citizens, and justice-involved youth build second acts through engagement with the arts.


PPA seeks an early career professional with a passion for theater, education, and helping those navigating the justice system. This flexible, part-time position reports directly to the Artistic Director and offers a hybrid in-office/remote work model.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Correspond with all youth facilities and the Department of Corrections for all scheduling, curriculum, and procedural communications.

  • Provide administrative support to teaching artists in youth facilities.

  • Serve as a teaching artist when needed.

  • Manage the Box Office and RSVPs for performances in adult facilities at Pacific, Bowling Green, and Vandalia Missouri.

  • Serve as production assistant for adult productions including costume and prop coordination.

  • Communicate and enforce all correctional facility guidelines for artists and audiences.

  • Document attendance and all participant and audience demographics.

  • Assist the Artistic Director in all artistic and educational activities, including managing smaller projects.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong belief in PPA’s core values, mission, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Minimum two or more years of experience in professional performing arts.

  • Teaching Artists experience preferred.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite with an aptitude for learning new applications and database management.

  • Must have access to reliable transportation, and comfort level with visiting various correctional facilities across the state.

  • Occasional availability evenings and weekends
