We’re thrilled to announce a new collaboration with Shakespeare Festival St. Louis (SFSTL) to present our September 7th workshop, “We Know What We Are, But Not What We May Be. Restorative Circles of Reconciliation: Creating Circles of Creativity & Healing."
Teaming up with Shakespeare Festival St. Louis on this September workshop was an easy decision. Says Artistic Director Christopher Limber of Tom Ridgely, SFSTL’s Executive Producer: "Tom has entered the St. Louis community with great energy and openness. He is eager to share his expertise, as he has done throughout his career, to make collaboration part of his creative wheelhouse. PPA believes his collaborative spirit is central to our mission. The Shakespeare Festival has always been a generous and welcome collaborator."
Nationally recognized director and theatre and prison arts innovator, Curt L. Tofteland, Founder and Artistic Director of Shakespeare Behind Bars, will facilitate the workshop. Like Prison Performing Arts, Curt is another distinguished Shakespeare specialist and prison arts pioneer, utilizing the Bard to invigorate the creativity and healing of incarcerated individuals. His insights, gleaned over decades of prison work all over the county, provide a unique opportunity for professional development.
The Arts and Education Council is also sponsoring this exciting workshop day by providing their recently opened 1,900 square foot workshop space in the Centene Center, the Catalyst Innovation Lab - a space specifically designed to gather, collaborate, learn and exchange ideas on creativity for more arts and cultural innovation.
“The Arts and Education Council, besides providing a creative building filled with some of the finest arts organizations in St. Louis, also have provided space to create,” says Limber. “Space determines motion, and A&E is a valued catalyst. We are thrilled to generate this full-day collaborative on how to passionately empower the creative spirit using the works of Shakespeare. It will be both exciting, deeply enlightening, and, knowing Curt's range of experience, great fun."
