Learning Through the Arts provides year-round performing arts classes for youth and young adults at St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center, Hogan Street Regional Youth Center, and St. Louis County Juvenile Detention Center. Classes for Learning Through the Arts include: Creative Writing, Dance, Theatre, Visual Art and West African Drumming. Resuming in 2023 after a 4 year absence is the Learning Through the Arts’ annual showcase, presented by Prison Performing Arts and The Family Court-Juvenile Division. This year the showcase moves from the winter to the summer. The Summer Showcase encourages participants at St. Louis City Juvenile Detention Center to share their learning experiences with a live audience of Family Court Staff and PPA supporters.
